Double dose of Tim Finn in Helpmann’s and Flower Carnival
This Monday night Australia’s most prestigious arts awards will take place – the Helpmann Awards.
The musical Ladies in Black created by singer-songwriter-composer Tim Finn and produced here in Queensland by Queensland Theatre Company is up for six awards.
Finn’s blockbuster stage musical Ladies in Black has been nominated for six Helpmann Awards including: Best Musical, Best new Australian Work, Best Original Score, Best Music Direction, Best Direction of a Musical and Best Costume Design,
The 2016 Helpmann Awards will be presented on Monday 25 July at the
Sydney Lyric Theatre. Celebrity Hosts for the evening will include Chloe
Dallimore, Helen Dallimore, Stuart Maunder AM, Guy Noble, Simon Phillips,
The Umbilical Brothers and Queenie van de Zandt as “Jan van der Stool”.
The Helpmann Awards are the premier celebration of Australia’s vibrant live
performance industry and recognise distinguished achievement and excellence
in Australia’s live performance sectors.
The Helpmann Awards established in 2001 by Live Performance Australia
(LPA), will see the presentation of awards in 41 categories. In addition
presentations will be made of both the JC Williamson AwardTM and the Sue
Nattrass Award®. These Awards recognise outstanding contributions to the
Australian live performance industry.
The high-profile line-up of Presenters includes Kellie Dickerson, Tim Draxl,
Marta Dusseldorp, Tim Finn, Antoinette Halloran, Noni Hazlehurst, Erika
Heynatz, Celia Ireland, Tim Minchin, Hunter Page-Lochard, Katrina
Milosevic, Milijana Nikolic, Eddie Perfect, Aurélien Scannella, The Hon
Jillian Skinner MP and Toby Thatcher.

And on Sunday September 18, the man himself, Tim Finn will perform live onstage in Toowoomba as the finale act of The Heritage Bank Live Concert Series!
Tim Finn, will perform on Sunday September 18 on Queens Gardens. He is the closing performance on a day celebrating Australian music greats with Katie Noonan and her new band, Vanguard, ARIA-Award winning The Whitlams who will take to the stage with the Toowoomba Concert Orchestra.
Finn, Noonan and The Whitlams will be joined over the opening weekend of Carnival of Flowers by Birds of Tokyo, Montaigne, Emma Louise, The Chantoozies, Eurogliders and the Models as well as super hot DJs Mashd N Kutcher.
The Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers is the longest-running floral event of its kind in Australia. With a theme of Eat, laugh, play, stay, the program features more than 50 unique events and experiences, including musical acts, award winning gardens, some of the best food and wine to be found in Southern Queensland and a multitude of cultural adventures. In a major floral design coup, three of Australia’s leading names in floral design Charlie Albone, Annita Bokobli and Bart Hassam will also attend.
