Redcliffe Wicked's Elphaba named

After more than 300 people auditioned for Redcliffe’s production of WICKED earlier this year, local actress Katharine Vacca (right)has secured the leading role of Elphaba in Redcliffe Musical Theatre’s upcoming production which will be staged in July and August this year at the Redcliffe Cultural Centre

Vacca, who has been performing in the Moreton Bay Region for more than 5 years, is very excited to be debuting such an iconic role in musical theatre.

“The musical Wicked has always held a special place in my heart. I remember seeing the original Australian tour and being absolutely blown away from the first number,” Vacca said.

“I am excited by the challenges that come with playing Elphaba. Although it is a lot of fun to be painted green and to fly across the stage, my favourite part of Elphaba is her character and her determination.”

, says she can’t wait for audiences to witness the magical production.

“Redcliffe Musical Theatre has been fortunate to secure the first community rights in Queensland to this show and we will not leave audiences disappointed,” said Director and President of Redcliffe Musical Theatre, Madeleine Johns.

The production will be the Queensland Community Theatre Premiere .

Join the orchestra for Beauty and the Beast!

Positions are still available for Senior High School students in the Moreton Bay region to join the pit orchestra for Beauty and the Beast. You will get the opportunity to work alongside experienced pit musicians under the Musical Direction of Lucas D Lynch.
