Popstars! The 90’s Musical, written by Australians, Neil Gooding and Nicholas Christo and set around the hit songs from the 1990s has been adapted for the stage. It will open on Thursday 24 September at the Redgum Centre in Wentworthville.
Set in a high school in the 1990s, a mega talent agent offers stardom to the winners of a battle of the bands competition. Ex couple, Shannon and Mark put their high school dramas aside for a boy band versus girl band showdown to become, Popstars.
“Popstars is meant to be something that sends audiences out there by singing all the songs they probably already know and clapping along and having fun,” said co-writer Neil Gooding.
“Teenagers of the 1990’s will reminisce over the songs they had of their first kiss or break-up and song they cried to. Adults of the 1990s will see similar cringtastic outfits and hairstyles they wore in Popstars. The youth that were unfortunate enough to miss out on the 1990s can come and see what all the fuss was about,” said director Ryan Thornhill.
Presented by Holroyd Musical and Dramatic Society, Popstars! The 90’s Musical will play at the Redgum Centre in Wentworthville from September 24-27. Book online www.hmds.org.au or phone Leanne Carter on 0497 051 798 or email tickets.hmds@gmail.com to book your session time.
