October 19, 2018

Ebony Hamacek and Jackson O’Sullivan

The Turn of the Screw adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher from the story by Henry James, performs at the Black Box Theatre, Nambour, Queensland, on October 26th and 27th.

Set in 1872,  a young woman accepts her first appointment as governess to two orphaned children. Her joy at finding herself in charge at an English country manor, however, quickly turns to growing unease.

The children’s previous governess and her lover both died untimely deaths, and it seems their spirits are restless. From beyond the graves they reach out, and the young woman must find the courage to keep the children safe from their malicious clutches, even when others question her sanity. Has she got what it takes?

This play showcases the talents of actors Ebony Hamacek and Jackson O’Sullivan, who each got their starts on the Sunshine Coast. Ebony has twice toured nationally with Jally Entertainment, and is a sought after musical theatre performer. She has performed around the country in musicals such as Mary Poppins, We Will Rock You and Jesus Christ Superstar as well in new works, such as Flaws and All: The Musical.
