Rock of Ages will be Phoenix Ensemble’s finale

Phoenix Ensemble’s final mainstage production for 2018 is the musical Rock of Ages - playing at the “Tin Shed” in Beenleigh, from October 5 - 27.

It’s the tail end of the 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strips last legendary venues, a place where sex machine Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality.

Aspiring rock star Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing and to date girl-next-door Sherrie, but the rock and roll fairy-tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall.

Can Drew, Sherrie and the gang save the strip–and themselves–before its too late? The music of hit bands Styx, Twisted Sister, REO Speedwagon, Whitesnake and more hold the answer.

The final instalment of the 25th Anniversary Season, Phoenix was made famous by the film of the same name starring Alec Baldwin and Tom Cruise.

Marketing Director Benjamin Tubb-Hearne explains “Rock of Ages is the perfect mash up of nostalgia and excitement. The musical itself manages to resonate with nearly everyone and it doesn’t matter if you grew up in the 80s or now, the songs are exhilarating and the atmosphere the musical creates is electrifying (although, there are scenes in the show that you might not want your young children to view!) - it is definitely more for the adults!”

Director Morgan Orth is no stranger to directing in the Tin Shed and has channelled her inner 80s child and has created an immersive world in which to enjoy the sounds of the time.

Season: October 5 - 27 2018. Venue: Pavillion Theatre, Beenleigh Showgrounds, James St, Beenleigh. Tickets: $30 Adults / $25 Conc. Bookings: http://phoenixensemble.com.au/RockofAges
