Brisbane French Theatre is presenting an Australian premiere of the Parisian hit play Simone Says (original French title Et pendant ce temps, Simone veille!), a comedy which revisits the evolution of women’s rights in France from the 1950s until today.

Through everyday life scenes, the play follows three lines of women over four generations, taking the audience on an historic journey complete with song parodies, and historical fact checks by a flamboyant host, Simone.

The play is enjoying a phenomenal success in France, where it has been seen by more than 72,000 people since it opened in 2013.

This play will be performed in French, with English surtitles projected above the stage on a wide screen. The play is recommended for an audience 15+. It contains mature themes, coarse language and sexual references that may offend some audience members. Run time: 90 minutes

Brisbane French Theatre is a company dedicated to promote the wealth of the French culture. This organisation stemmed from a desire to offer francophile Australians an entertaining immersion into French culture and give French expatriates the opportunity to celebrate their language and their roots.

Brisbane French Theatre continually endeavours to honour its French origins, yet its intention is to move forward and not live in the past! French culture is constantly evolving, and Brisbane French Theatre is determined to foster its growth by bringing unique contemporary shows to the Australian stage.

Directed by Thomas Smith assisted by Hugues Girod and starring: Marie-Helene Cremer, Lila Girod, Isabelle Johnson and Alice Militon.
