A new production of Chicago set for the Brisbane stage

Joanna Nash as Velma, Joshua Moore as Bill and Heidi Enchelmaier as Roxie

In the roaring twenties Chicago, Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap... until he finds out he's been dumped and turns on Roxie.

Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another killer, Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately join forces in search of the "American Dream": fame, fortune, and acquittal.

Following their spectacular sell out season of Les Misérables Savoyards brings the Chicago, to the stage.

A multiple award-winning show, Chicago has thrilled audiences in numerous productions around the world. With songs such as All That Jazz, Razzle Dazzle, and Mr Cellophane, Chicago highlights the comparison between "justice", "show-business", and contemporary society.

Featuring a cast of 43 performers, a live orchestra, and performed in the Iona Performing Arts Centre this production promises to be a feast for the eyes and ears.

“It’s been years since the amateur performance rights for Chicago have been available,” said Choreographer, Desney Toia-Sinapati.

“We auditioned more than 80 dancers, not to mention the many talented singers and actors. The final cast blends Brisbane community theatre performers, alongside actors with many professional performance credits. Add to this a live orchestra and we are able to provide an amazing experience for our performers and a simply stunning experience for our audiences.”

Iona Performing Arts Centre, Wynnum, 29 September-13 October

Tickets range from $28-$50 and are available now, online at www.savoyards.com.au
