DeepBlue's new production for Flowstate

South Bank’s new venue, Flowstate will transform into a forest of musicians for DeepBlue's new production, Song to the Earth from 16-19 May which was performed at Bleach Festival / Festival 2018 at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games .

Composed by contemporary classical composer Dr Corrina Bonshek and featuring light installations, this musical trek under the night sky is brought to life by DeepBlue, master percussionist Dr Michael Askill, and young musicians from Brisbane.

Song to the Earth leads audiences through a spiritual journey inspired by the patterns and cycles from nature, to discover the inter-connectedness of nature and the arts. When composer Corrina first imagined this music for this piece, she had the picture in her mind of a swirling flock of birds, and music notes being passed around in spirals of sound.

The performance zone is bordered by a large-scale lighting installation by Mimi Dennett and lighting designer Wes Bluff which glows in colour and intensity in response to the music. It is also lit by small-scale light installations by visual artist Tiffany Beckwith-Skinner.

Song to the Earth will be performed nightly from 16-19 May. It is a work in two discreet movements lasting 30 minutes each, the first starting at 7:30 pm and the second at 8:15pm

The performance is free but bookings are essential. For more information and for reservations visit: http://flowstate.southbankcorporation.com.au/song-to-the-earth/
