Star jazz vocalist for QPAC

American based jazz vocalist Madeleine Peyroux (right) will appear at Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s (QPAC’s) Concert Hall stage on Thursday 7.

Peyroux's journey is one of music industry’s most compelling. Eight albums and 22 years since her debut Dreamland, Peyroux continues to challenge the confines of jazz, venturing into the fertile fields of contemporary music.

Renowned for her ‘smoke and whisky’ vocals and hailed as the legitimate successor to blues icon Billie Holiday, French-American jazz singer Peyroux delivers highly personal interpretations of jazz standards, blues and original works.

Coined “the queen of the unhurried” at the 2016 London Jazz Festival, Peyroux is a fine songstress and a strong believer in the power of song quoted as having said “music, song, the voice: this is my spiritual life”

Madeleine will be performing from her soon to be released album Anthem produced by Larry Klein. This album balance humour, pathos, and irony, while weaving a topical thread throughout, addressing the current state of the world.

Don’t miss this very special evening with Madeleine Peyroux, revered for her dusky, lyrical style, as she covers jazz and blues standards, along with her own original works. To book go to qpac.com.au or phone 136-246.
