Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s chamber music series, Twilight Notes, returns this year

Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s (QPAC) popular chamber music series, Twilight Notes, returns in 2018 with a line-up of musical duos in three concerts.

Each performance will be held in the reverse mode of QPAC’s Concert Hall. The Monday evening concerts are 90-minutes without interval.

Opening the series on 4 June, are virtuosi pianists Lisa Moore and Sonya Lifschitz in Handwork. A journey on two grand pianos, the evening will feature Bach’s Goldberg Variations in an arrangement by Stephen Emerson. This is paired with new American music –Handwork by Martin Bresnick and John Adams’ jazz-infused Hallelujah Junction.

In Without Boundaries on 27 August, violinist Zoë Black and pianist and award-winning composer Joe Chindamo combine classical music with jazz. The evening’s program is a fresh take on chamber music, with works inspired by the likes of Purcell and Chopin, alongside Chindamo’s own, as well as a fresh arrangement of Gershwin.

For Wayfaring, the final Twilight Notes concert for the year on 22 October, the pairing of Karin Schaupp on guitar and Umberto Clerici on 'cello will take the audience on a voyage through five centuries of song.

From the Italian Renaissance to the present day, and the simple beauty of a lullaby to a Jewish reflection on death, this program uses song to travel from the beginning to the end of life and all that comes in between; exploring love, jealousy, family, illness, joys and battles.
