Holroyd Musical and Dramatic Society turns 45

Holroyd Musical and Dramatic Society is celebrating its 45th birthday with the 1980’s hit, Footloose The Musical.

The community based Society was formed in 1971 and continues to produce two major musicals each year..

“We have a great following and huge support from people from all over Sydney, not just in the Western Sydney region. It’s a great feeling when you speak with audiences and find out they’ve come from the North Shore, Blue Mountains or Sutherland Shire to see our shows. We also receive a lot of support from fans on our Facebook page which we love,” said Mrs Leanne Carter, the ticket secretary.

Footloose the musical will play at the Red Gum Centre in Wentworthville from 16 to 24 September.

An eight piece band will play the classic songs including Let’s Hear It For The Boy, Almost Paradise, Holding Out For A Hero and the popular Footloose. .

Based on the 1980’s film, Footloose The Musical sizzles with romance, rebellion and the journey of self-discovery. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren thinks his life is over. What he isn’t prepared for are the local laws, including a ban on dancing. It isn’t long before Ren can’t resist breaking the rules.

There will be matinee performances at 2 pm and evening performances at 8 pm. Performances will be held at the Red Gum Centre, 2 Lane Street in Wentworthville.
