Stars line up for Queensland Theatre’s next Play Club

Queensland Theatre Artistic Director Lee Lewis

Stage stars Violette Ayad, Nicole Hoskins, Thomas Larkin, Barb Lowing, Brian Lucas and Andrea Moor will take the lead on Tuesday June 3 at 7.30m, under the direction of Daniel Evans (Oedipus Doesn’t Live Here Anymore) in Queensland Theatre’s new PLAY CLUB, the live reading of The Turquoise Elephant by Stephen Carleton (Bastard Territory) over Zoom webinar.

This black, black, black political farce is urgent, contemporary and perilously close to being real. A short Q&A with the cast will follow the reading.

This is a free streamed event, however, bookings are essential.

With a commitment from Queensland Theatre Artistic Director Lee Lewis to focus on Australian playwrights and actors, PLAY CLUB has been a major hit, drawing an audience from across Australia and even the UK.

“We believe theatre should be open, even when it’s closed, and so Queensland Theatre is celebrating theatre digitally. Through our Quality Time with QT program we are inviting our supporters to join us behind the scenes for play readings with some of your favourite actors, conversations with creatives, practical production tutorials and a celebration of 50 seasons of stories. Together, let’s share our love of theatre by shifting our conversations from crowded foyers into our homes,” said Lewis.

Play Club: The Turquoise Elephant by Stephen Carleton: Tuesday 23 June, 7.30pm. Free, bookings required: http://queenslandtheatre.com.au/qualitytime
