The Gold Coast Little Theatre’s Dolphin Awards

The Gold Coast Little Theatre had a full-house for its special awards night as members gathered to acknowledge the best of 2019.

Despite having had a busy year, with some excellent productions, there were only two winners in all categories.

They were the Addams Family musical – which took out seven awards – while the much loved Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The King and I took out eight.

The Addams Family scored wins in audio (Cody O’Prey), lighting (Andrew Borg), choreography (Jo De Goldi), set (Lawrie Esmond and Ann-Britt Riget), crew member (Leeanne Schultz), joint stage manager (Ralph Lenton) and leading male (Daniel O’Connell).

Meanwhile, The King and I won Dolphins with costumes (Shirley Whitehouse), music (Ann Sparks), joint stage manager (Di Morgan), supporting female (Rowena Orcullo Ryan), supporting male (Flynn Anderson), leading female (Kellie Wilson), director (Stuart Morgan) and show of the year.

The evening also gave the company the opportunity to celebrate the work of life members Joyce Grant, Del Halpin, Nina Khan, Nellie and Leo Mevissen and Julianne and Bruce Shearer.

Another guest of honour was Gold Coast City Councillor Dawn Critchlow who is retiring at this year’s council election after nearly 30 years in local government.
