Gender-bender cabaret


The newly formed Passion Productions will be presenting, in partnership with the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, CONfused - An Evening of Gender Bent Cabaret.

show will play from June 29-July 1 at the Burke Street Studios. All event profits are being donated to the charities Headspace and the Actors’ and Entertainers’ Benevolent Fund.

Directed by Chiara Lagana, with musical direction by Luke Volker, CONfused is a tribute of sorts to Miscast and Broadway Backwards, with a twist! It promises to be a fun-filled night of gender swap cabaret featuring a cast of some of Brisbane’s most talented performers.

The cast includes Billy Bourchier (Les Miserables, Candide), Jonathan Hickey (The Light in The Piazza, FiZZ!), Tim Carroll (Grease, The Boys of Sondheim), Jacqui McLaren (Rent, Carrie), Alex Woodward (Dogfight, Spring Awakening), Sophie Stephens (Hair, Into the Woods), Jordan Malone (Sweet Charity), Sarah Whalen (The Secret Garden), Olivia Fisher (The Life).

Headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services.

Actors’ & Entertainers’ Benevolent Fund (Qld) Inc. has been in existence in Queensland for more than 40 years and during that time has been able to assist hundreds of performers who for one reason or another have fallen on hard times and needed a helping hand.
